WHAT'S YOUR NEW ROLE ABOUT?

You are required to lead the production of a daily sports news service for internet, mobile and broadcast in the global market. You will play a key role in setting the daily agenda and have strong editorial judgement as well as the ability to work to tight deadlines in a high pressure environment. You will be central in shaping PERFORM'S sports news service, and be prepared to manage and direct in all aspects of content production for a 24-hour desk. You must have strong experience in scripting, editing and subbing, as well as leading a team of journalists. You must also have line managerial experience and be comfortable liaising with a range of international colleagues, clients and teams. The role is full time and will require flexibility as the hours will include weekends and evenings as required.


WHAT WILL YOU DO IN YOUR NEW ROLE? - % of role

Give guidance to the production team and ensure they deliver original, high quality scripts and produce video content with creativity, energy and skill. 25

Supervise the video production staff and help set the daily agenda and make editorial judgements appropriate to service requirements. 25

Undertake line management responsibilities for a team of Assistant Producers, including appraisals and reviews, mentoring and training. 10

Develop an understanding of new technologies used in the delivery of multi-platform products and to implement the use of equipment needed to execute this. 10

Work well to tight deadlines and offer creative and flexible solutions, in order to develop and shape the product and realise its full potential across multiple platforms. 10

Liaise with our editorial, international and other in-house teams and maintain collaborative relationships to ensure a smooth workflow of content. 10

Play a central role in the product review process, including meetings with Senior Editors. 10


DO YOU HAVE THESE ESSENTIALS?

Ability to produce engaging content for digital and traditional consumers. 4

First rate knowledge of a range of sports. 4

Strong scripting and subbing experience. 4

Understanding of the current market demands with a focus on social media and viral content. 4

Communication skills - be comfortable dealing with a wide range of teams, nationalities and individuals. 4

Leadership and managerial skills with the ability to deal with a breaking news story. 4

Excellent editorial judgement and be comfortable setting the daily agenda. 4

Excellent command of written and spoken English. 4

Planning and organisational skills. 4

Knowledge of key editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, AVID) to a broadcast standard. 3

Understanding of technical and delivery aspects of broadcast and digital media. 3

Develop the product and suggest new ideas for video treatments. 3

Ability to work well to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment. 3

Broadcast journalism qualification or relevant experience. 3

Field experience - ability to produce on location.
