This role will work directly with Sky's Politic Editor and Correspondent across a range of political subjects to deliver top quality, original journalism and content to all Sky News platforms.


We're looking for someone with proven journalistic abilities; an enthusiasm for working across all platforms; and with the energy, focus and teamwork to make our political journalism world class. Creativity, in terms of both ideas and treatments, is crucial: as is the discipline to deliver content from conception to birth.


Based in our Millbank offices. Travel in UK and abroad - sometimes at very short notice - will be required.


You will:
- Maintain excellent knowledge of the current political climate, news and current affairs, and a voracious appetite for the television and online offerings of our competitors.
- Work directly with our Political Correspondents and Editors to deliver top quality, original journalism.
- Produce and deliver specialist content that tells the stories of the day with flair, imagination and authority.
- Put together extended special reports as well as bespoke pieces of journalism for our digital products.
- Take ownership and accountability for the look and feel, editorial quality and relevance of political content across all platforms; ensuring content is aligned with the Sky News objectives and values.
- Help the Head of Politics steer the direction of our political coverage .
- Build and maintain relationships with politician's, think tanks and opinion formers
- Maintain coordination with other parts of the organization such as Output, News Gathering and Operations teams. Ensure as far as possible that lines of communication within and across departments are clear and workable.
