News delivers distinctive programmes and exclusive stories with people at the heart of them. The Planning Assistant News Editor will plan future coverage and news events. The role is key in identifying stories that serve the 5 News audience.

Responsibilities
Work on next day or long-term planning as needed
Work to the Planning Editor in planning future coverage
The Planning ANE will be expected to liaise with other planning desks within ITN
Be able to identify stories and plan elements and interviews for both 5 News and 5 News Tonight
Assist News Editors when required
Answer newsdesk phones, dealing with callers and prioritising information
Pass on information in a clear, concise manner
Co-ordinate and communicate with newsgathering staff
Plan newsgathering resources to ensure future stories are adequately covered
Key liaison point between newsdesk and on-the-road teams
Log picture as and when required
Be aware of copyright and access information
Research, locate and negotiate the acquisition of stills and video
Work across all areas of the 5 News operation as required
