We are looking for an experienced individual to join us as Picture Editor. Working within our Creative Content and Stories team and alongside another picture editor, you will support in researching, selecting, commissioning and producing high quality photography to promote the work of Save the Children and partner organisations.

Our Marketing and Fundraising divisions exist to inspire millions of people - from individuals to large corporate organisations - to support our quest for change. Together, we save children's lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

Identify and assess potential photographers for commissions

Distribute images promptly to meet press deadlines
Provide in-house and external photographic research, picture editing and sourcing when appropriate
Evaluate success of commissions to ensure feedback and learning is considered in future commissions, and processes and procedures are adjusted accordingly.
Ensure that our photography empowers the children and families we work with and does not reinforce negative stereotypes.
To be successful you will have significant operational experience and demonstrable success in delivering high quality photography content from commissions. You will have excellent contacts within the photography, photo-production and media industry. With the ability to work collaboratively in a team of expert creative practitioners and under the Head of Creative Content and Stories, you will also have the ability to operate within a predominantly administratively self-servicing environment and undertake routine administrative tasks. In addition you will have:

An awareness of new photographic trends and innovative ways of humanitarian multi-media story telling
A track record of producing creative and impactful visual storytelling
Demonstrable experience of managing budgets and negotiating rates and usage with photographers and photo/picture agencies
An excellent understanding of image reproduction and the varying formats required and advanced skills in image editing
An understanding of and commitment to visual storytelling ethics and an up to date knowledge of legalities in relation to image use and knowledge of international development.
