To assist in and oversee the efficient operation of the AVID production system, including all aspects of media management, newsroom and desktop editing, and transmission.ResponsibilitiesOperate ITN's digital editing system, AVID Newscutter to a high standard.Delivering to very tight deadlines.Knowledge of Premier editing.Develop your personal editing skills on AVID, using the full functionality of the system in a creative and innovative fashion.Edit high-quality, creative reports for the nightly programme.Edit breaking-news packages with little supervision.Edit long form films either on the day or over a longer period.Work closely with reporters, producers and programme editors over the content, structure and deadline of edits.To understand all aspects of the digital workflow in the Channel 4 News technology production.Communicate clearly with journalists and studio production staff.Work effectively with other parts of the C4 News production teams, graphic designers, studio crews, and the online team.Fulfil all aspects of media management in the AVID system, including ingest of multi-format media, audio and graphics, transmission, deletion of content, and compilation of clean-feeds, following the documented workflow.Work closely with Server Managers and Studio Support staff to identify and resolve problems affecting the servers and other related equipment.Support production teams in their use of the digital editing system including, Assist and Newscutter XPProvide occasional training on these systems as directed.Support or deputise for the Post Production Technology Manager for short periods as required.QualificationsGood knowledge of editing software Avid and PremierCalm under pressurePC and MS Office literateWorking to tight deadlinesMAC literateAttention to detailTeam playerFlexible and adaptable approachThis Job Description identifies the main requirements of the role.
