The Online Editor will work within the Creative Services team, who are responsible for all of the production logistics on the planning, creation and delivery of all promotional output for NBCU's portfolio of channels for Emerging Markets & UK

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• This is a broadcast online editor position with responsibility to online, version and colour correct promotional material for NBCU's portfolio of channels.
• Good working knowledge of the Avid tree of products; including Interplay, Avid Symphony and Adobe After effects.
• Consistently creating video for promotional material to a high technical and aesthetic standard, ensuring satisfaction of clients and management.
• Ability to edit and manage English and foreign languages for versioning within a complex workflow; ensuring all deliverables are created accurately and to schedule.
• Combine video from multiple sources and create a consistent and balanced delivery.
• Ensuring output is technically correct, being confident in using key equipment to assist the process.
• Fixing PSE and other technical errors.
• Understanding and interpreting technical specifications for various deliveries.
• Managing booked sessions, ensuring that missing material or incomplete sessions are reported to the Production Coordinator, advising on any language errors and any other issues that can affect the session.
• Closely liaise with the Production team throughout the day as requirements can change.
• Delivering to often tight deadlines.
• Be a point of contact for daily operational queries for online, troubleshooting problems as they arise and escalating if necessary.
• Ensure that projects are consolidated and adhere to the agreed naming practice and established media management workflows.
• Ensure close relationships are established with key internal departments to maintain and improve working practises.
• Maintain and improve current knowledge of editing technology and practices to provide support for the Creative Services management and development of strategy.
• Maintain tidiness of online suites and report any faulty or damaged equipment in a timely manner.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of new equipment in a proactive way.
• Establish good working relationships with external clients and third parties.
• Collaborate with the wider team to ensure the smooth production of required material, making sure this meets the required aesthetic and technical standards within the agreed time constraints.
• Contributing creative and operational ideas in a proactive way.
• Help to develop, review and maintain appropriate documentation and guides on local knowledge for freelance staff.
• Strive to ensure all our output is Ofcom compliant and report if the output cannot meet expected standards.

ABOUT YOU

• Proven experience as an online editor in a broadcast or facility environment (ideally with a background in tech QC).
• Solid experience of the Avid family of products.
• Proven working knowledge of Avid NEXIS, Avid Interplay and Adobe After Effects in a professional environment.
• Proven technical knowledge and a keen interest in new technology developments.
• Accuracy with great attention to detail
• Excellent working knowledge of file based workflows.
• Exceptional communication and people skills
• Ability to give guidance and to train others.
• Ability to handle non-routine queries and can resolve issues from application of previous experience.
• Ability to improve existing services/processes by seeking and implementing concepts from sources outside the department/company.
• Ability to create strong relationships.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage several projects simultaneously.
• Have active responsibility for own training and development.
• Promptly intervenes when results may not be achieved; taking timely decisions and appropriate action to bring things back on course.
• Experience in working in a multi-channel environment.
• Desirable but not essential - experience of Magic Bullet Suite and Baselight Editions plug-ins.
