As a News Assistant you have four primary roles;

As a Floor Manager you will ensure the smooth running of studio floor operations,

As a Sound Technician you will manage the use of microphones and talkback systems on the studio floor,

As a Prompt Operator you will competently control the prompt system as required by Newscasters,

Outside the studio environment you will provide music clearing and logging services to ITN as a whole.

Responsibilities
To ensure directions and instructions from the director in the gallery are received on the floor
To manage the studio floor, ensuring that health and safety rules are observed (such as tidy cables, trip hazards, no drinks etc.), especially with studio guests who are unfamiliar with the environment
To make sure the needs of special guests such as wheelchair users or guests with guide dogs are appropriately met, whilst following Health & Safety guidelines
To move and frame cameras as directed
To mic up and provide talkback for presenters and guests and liaise with the sound engineer
To load, run and update auto script prompting system
To provide music clearing services to ITN and its clients
To log all music used across ITN news bulletins accurately via the Silvermouse system
Qualifications
Must be able to remain calm in all situations
Clear thinking and concise when communicating with others
A team player, and of a flexible nature
Must have an overall view of all studio operations and the functions of each area
Understands the importance of clear, concise music usage reporting
