ITN holds an archive of news content that spans over 60 years and is expanding every day. As a member of the archive cataloguing team you will service ITN's internal clients (such as the newsrooms) and sales agent, Getty Images, by processing and delivering digital picture content to the highest standards. Cataloguing a variety of content types (bulletin, legacy & rushes) by assigning metadata following standardised processes and applying appropriate rights and restrictions to ensure archival integrity.ResponsibilitiesCataloguing picture content for the ITN archive (bulletin, legacy and rushes content) in a manner appropriate to its likely future reuse or resale valueSeek out copyright details and associate with picture contentDetermine legal and copyright restrictions affecting reuse and sale of picture content and associate with imageryUndertake the technical processes necessary for picture content to be archived digitallyWork as part of a team to select archive content, advise on copyright and restrictions, and arrange or undertake delivery.To keep abreast of issues affecting the footage/content industry and to be aware of market developmentsTo operate in a professional manner at all timesTo have an awareness and understanding of the financial implications of all decision makingIn case of a big breaking news story, it may be required to work outside normal shift hoursTo take responsibility for the health and safety of your working environment and communicate any health and safety issues appropriatelyQualificationsProfessional archive or library qualification is preferred but is not essentialStrong attention to detail in all elements of work undertakenAn awareness of cataloguing processesAbility to establish a good working knowledge of Digital Asset Management, archiving and delivery systemsUnderstanding of copyright and restrictions affecting exploitation of moving picturesStrong grammar and spelling skillsGood interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingDriven and highly motivated with an approachable mannerAbility to function effectively as part of a team as well as capable of working independently, and having responsibility as an individualThe ability to foster good relationships with colleaguesSelf-starter able to use initiative in proposing solutions to problems and ability to proactively assist in planning to avoid problemsAbility to utilise equipment / software and adapt rapidly to new technologiesStrong time management skillsAbility to prioritise and manage workload, work under pressure and meet deadlines and Service Level AgreementsAn eye for good picturesGood general knowledge and an interest in news and current affairsA strong interest in moving picture archives, service delivery and a willingness to work in a commercial and results driven environment is necessaryIn keeping with the requirements of a 24/7 production company, a flexible attitude in terms of hours and shifts is requiredA good understanding of events spanning the last 70 years
