To work across Channel 4 News digital platforms, producing high impact content - focused on podcast output and wider Channel 4 News editorial output. To produce high-quality visual and audio journalism using Adobe Audition and Premiere. To secure maximum impact for Channel 4 News' digital and television material online. This role may include shift work and weekend work, and travel.
Responsibilities
Work across Channel 4 News digital platforms - with a focus on podcast production, filming, guest-booking and editing
Grow our podcast audience across all platforms
Work across Channel 4 News podcasts ensuring they have the best mix of guests possible, and are filmed, recorded and edited to the highest of standards
Enhance guest booking with an impressive contacts book and the ability to land surprising, influential and in demand guests
Produce original stories, interviews and coverage across a wide range of social media platforms and the website
To manage digital engagement with the audience via social media
To contribute to wider content, scripting and edit television and agency material with social platforms in mind - securing millions of views for our content in the digital world
Generate ideas and bring in distinctive, exclusive stories that meet the high editorial standards of Channel 4 News, pitched at a digital first audience
To contribute to the editorial output and daily news management of the digital team, making appropriate calls on news stories and ensuring output meets Channel 4 News standards at all times
Show distinctive judgement about digital storytelling - with confidence about what elements will resonate with an online audience and what will perform in the medium
Ensure stories are accurate and comply with the law and relevant regulations
Write and edit news stories and blogs for the website using the Content Management System
Maintain the highest standards of spelling, punctuation and grammar
Make engaging thumbnails and share cards for videos and written stories
Work in accordance with ITN guidelines on health and safety in the office and in the field
Occasionally work on the output, news-desk or other teams if required following training
Occasionally work in the field, at home and abroad, during breaking news
Occasional work with independent reporters or companies

Qualifications
A digital native who works to the highest editorial standards
Proven track record in producing stories across a variety of media
Proven track record of high quality guest booking
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Audition or other audio editing software is required
2+ years of experience in a broadcast newsroom, newspaper or current affairs programme, publication or podcast preferred
Basic camera skills are desirable
Expert understanding and knowledge of social media and experience working across a wide variety of platforms
Strong team-working skills
Ability to work autonomously and under own initiative. Project management skills
Strong digital news judgement - with a knowledge of what will play well on social and how to draw users to our website
Knowledge and experience of news and current affairs
High quality news judgement, editorial creativity and imagination
Flair for expressing stories visually and an excellent writing ability
Technical adaptability and flexibility
Highly developed understanding of complex legal situations and understanding of ITN Legal Compliance procedures
Understanding of Channel 4 News agenda
Good interpersonal skills, team player with personal authority and the ability to manage a group of people
Calm under pressure with the ability to adapt and be flexible in task and role
Ability to work to a deadline
Act with responsibility and common sense in the field and office, in compliance with ITN's Health and Safety Policies
