To shoot and edit picture to the highest broadcast standard. To gather picture and edit the package to see a story through from actuality to transmission. To follow editorial guidance in the pursuit of content for all ITV News outlets.
Responsibilities:
To operate a camera and associated equipment, including sound equipment to a high standard
To use lighting equipment effectively, reliably and creatively to a high technical standard
Undertake the direction of live outside broadcasts
Maintenance of equipment to ensure the equipment is in correct working order
To facilitate the speedy delivery of material for TX
Support the journalist by researching and fixing stories and carrying out interviews as required
Responsible for health and safety in the field
Liaise with the newsdesk and programme desks regarding deployments and operational requirements
Work under own initiative to capture first-class footage
Be prepared to travel on behalf of ITN; this includes both home and foreign coverage related to the Westminster bureau
Qualifications:
Practical experience as a camera operator in the field
Proven experience of working in television news
Experience in working with non linear editing and editing pictures
Sound understanding of systems for picture delivery
Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly a high level of tact and diplomacy
Ability to work to tight deadlines, to manage own workload and prioritise tasks
Robust response to high pressure
Commitment to integrated team working practices
A constructive, creative and enabling approach to problem solving
A valid driving licence
Basic computer and IT skills
Good knowledge of Ofcom regulations and the ITN compliance manual
Awareness of Health and Safety requirements
Awareness and understanding of the financial implications of all decision making
