Motion Graphics Designer

Since launching in 2011, our resources are now used by hundreds of thousands of teachers, in over 60 countries and in 19 different languages. Our award-winning videos, digital resources and lesson materials are created in our head offices in Glasgow, near Kelvingrove Park, by a team of around 80 educators, filmmakers, designers, developers, writers, academics and parents.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our films and currently seeking an experienced Motion Graphics Designer to work with us on a range of projects for teenagers in the United States.
Working with Editors and Producers, the main purpose of this role is to develop and design age appropriate, educationally relevant, graphic sequences and video content, which engages, broadens knowledge, and entertains students.
At Twig we embrace the sharing of knowledge and experience. Our edit team have varying levels of graphics abilities, and part of this role is to support and develop editor skill sets.
This is a full-time position, with an immediate/February start date, initially on a 12-month contract with a view to extension for the right candidate.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in producing motion graphics and graphic sequences. You'll have extensive experience using Adobe CC programmes - After Effects and Adobe Premiere and Photoshop skills are a must, Cinema 4D is desirable. Digital illustration skills would be advantageous.
The ability to think visually and translate complex ideas into engaging sequences and films is critical.
You will be motivated, and be able to work collaboratively with our experienced in-house editors and producers. You'll be comfortable with deadlines, and agile - you'll have no problem managing multiple sequences and films at a time, and your projects will be set out and archived clearly and sensibly.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and developing graphics and graphic sequences
- Working with Producers and the Executive Producer to devise solutions to address the communication of scientific processes and concepts
- Realising these solutions independently and/ or working with the Lead Editor and Editors
- Digesting and acting on feedback from Producers and the Executive Producer
- Liaising with our archive and rights team to ensure archive and assets are clearable
- Engaging with established workflows and taking responsibility for your projects
- Understanding and adhering to technical and best-practice requirements, when delivering to Post-Production
- Raising risks to quality, schedule or budget
- Sharing experience and encouraging the edit team to develop their graphics skills through day-to-day support and informal training sessions
