Innovation and Technology Solutions, delivering outstanding IT and enabling excellence in its use, provides the supporting and enabling IT for the whole University across three campuses, from underlying network infrastructure to digital skills training for staff and students. Innovation and Technology Solutions, a section of about 100 staff, is organised in four main operational service groups - Technology for People and Place, Infrastructure, Software Development, and Strategic Projects and Improvement. The Technology for People and Place Group comprises about 34 staff currently organised in four teams - Media Centre, IT Training and Customer Support, AV Systems, Print Systems and Desktop IT, and Campus Support - Southend and Loughton. The Group is responsible for the delivery of these and related services at all three University campuses and beyond.
Duties of the Role
The Media Centre at the University of Essex prides itself in supporting both Professional Services and Academic Departments utilising multimedia within the organisation, as well as management of media resources and studio space. The Media Centre team also produce high quality, short films to showcase the University's excellence in education and research.
We are looking for a Media Centre Technician to join the current team to support these endeavours and to help manage the technical operation of three studios and a radio studio.
The purpose of this post is helping to ensure The Media Centre (TMC) delivers high quality video and audio production as well as supporting the provision of professional, high quality equipment for academic departments.
Duties and Responsibilities will come under 5 key categories: 'Strategy and Planning', 'Service Development and Delivery', 'Teamwork and Motivation', 'Communication and Collaboration' and 'Investigation, Analysis and Research'.

Qualifications and Skills required
* The postholder will possess a specialist qualification or equivalent industry experience in a professional multimedia environment.
* An honours degree, or equivalent level experience in multimedia, would also be desirable.
The successful candidate will have previous experience of providing technical support as a Technician or similar role, with excellent camera operation skills, highly developed IT skills in audio and video post-production combined with an eye for detail.
Experienced in working in studio set ups and filming in a variety of locations, they will have strong written and oral communication skills, enjoy working with a variety of clients and have a strong commitment to customer service.
The successful applicant will have the ability to drive the delivery of new services and technologies while remaining resolutely customer focused.
The postholder will have the confidence to flag issues and to discuss solutions with the Media Centre Manager, as appropriate.
