Media Asset Archivist

Al Jazeera Media Network would like to hear from all experienced Archivists who are interested in working fulltime at our London Broadcast Centre.
Working as a Media Asset Archivist you are expected to understand the requirements of News and Programme production and have the ability to provide excellent service and support to all Network Media Operations clients. Ideally you will understand archiving standards and processes, video copyright and have experience of the tools required to manage and achieve the implementation of these.
Main responsibilities include:
• Service research requests for all internal departments and external clients, ensuring accuracy and fast turnaround in a broadcast critical environment.
• Capture, edit and process all video created by European bureaux teams and London based crews.
• Identify and process programmes, rushes and agency content into archive storage.
• Catalogue archived content to a high level of detail and accuracy.
Other key areas will include supporting production staff on archive rights agreements and systems, use of media and production asset management systems and Avid editing software, plus accessing archive from external content providers.
Solid and demonstrable experience in a similar role is desirable. An interest in news and current affairs, a willingness to learn proprietary equipment and applications, and strong written and verbal communication skills are also essential.
