We are looking for an experience Lead Set Designer who will be creating stylised sets and environments, as well as leading and managing a team of Set designers for a 3D animation production. As Lead Set Designer you are responsible for developing appealing designs for sets that fit the style of the production and successfully address story requirements.

Key Responsibilities
* Researching and providing exploratory sketches for interior and exterior sets based on the approved brief
* Produce detailed drawings at correct scale with prop callouts detailing any prop specifications within the set
* Collaborate/communicate with the Art and Modelling Departments
* Provide Color Keys and Digital Paintings which are going to be translated into a 3D world
* Leading and managing a team of artists, and regularly communicating the Art Directors vision to your team
* Managing your team, their assets and time efficiently to meet deadlines
* Responding positively to and providing positive notes and feedback
* Working to develop the knowledge and skills of your team as a whole
* Assisting in the recruitment of additional team members
* Setting up briefs and holding review sessions with art director and design team

Required Skills
* Excellent aesthetic judgement with strong skills in drawing, painting and attention to detail
* Adaptable to different styles of show
* A portfolio that demonstrates a variety of set and environment design options that fit into a story/world
* Be able to present work in a clear and concise manner that demonstrates thought process and purpose
* Excellent knowledge of tools and software such as Cintiq, Photoshop, or other applicable design software
* Creative flair
* Excellent understanding of colours, lighting and value structure
* Excellent understanding of volumes, turnarounds and perspective
* Able to visually develop and design sets and environments for 3D production through sophisticated exploratory designs.

Required Experience
* A degree or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years industry experience in a similar role
* Previous experience as a lead and strong management skills
* Good skills in graphic design and stylized textures is a plus
* A passion for cinematography or video games
* Knowledge of 3D animation workflow
* Passion for storytelling
* Understanding of 3D design, modelling and texturing workflow
* Good skills in graphic design and stylized textures is a plus
