Job Role
We are currently seeking a Lead Motion Graphics Designer to join our Production team. Ideally suited to someone who has excellent hands-on creative skills, exceptional organisational and time-management skills, and experience leading small teams.
Working with Producers and Video Editors, you will develop, design and deliver graphic sequences for implementation into short films designed to broaden knowledge and entertain. There will also be opportunities to work with our Digital Design team on interactive projects, to produce immersive, active user experiences. Though the outputs vary, both require a passion for producing engaging content and a desire and ability to work collaboratively.
At Twig we embrace the sharing of knowledge and experience. Our edit team has varying levels of graphics abilities, and part of this role is to support and develop their skill sets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing, developing and delivering highest quality motion graphic sequences and interactive assets, to communicate scientific processes and educational concepts
- Using a range of tools - moodboards, storyboards, wireframes etc, to clearly communicate ideas, achieve buy in, and avoid wasted time and effort
- Digesting feedback and implementing solutions, in response to Producers and project leads
- Leading other graphic designers when required, both in-house or freelance
- Liasing with the Digital Design and Content Design teams, to identify opportunities for collaboration, to enrich content across products and deliver best value
- With the Lead Editor, develop and produce project style guides
- Engaging with established workflows and taking responsibility for projects, considering future proofing, and access to the wider team
- Scheduling, prioritising and managing graphics work, raising risks to quality, and being mindful of schedule and budget
- Sharing experience, knowledge and encouraging the edit team to develop their graphics skills through day-to-day support and informal training sessions
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- At least 2 years experience working in a senior motion graphics role, with team lead and/or work allocation responsibilities
- A proven track record in producing motion graphics, having worked on both video and interactive content
- Extensive experience using Adobe After Effects and Premiere, and Cinema 4D
- Working knowledge of particle effects and fluid dynamics
- Prior experience working with 3D environments
Desirable:
- An interest in, or experience with, Unity would be ideal
- Digital illustration skills are an advantage
You should have a demonstrable ability to think visually and translate complex ideas into engaging sequences. The capacity to look critically at unfamiliar concepts and scenarios, and interrogate how they should be presented accurately is essential.
You will be motivated, and be able to work collaboratively with our experienced in-house editors, producers and design teams. You'll be comfortable with deadlines, and agile - you'll have no problem managing multiple sequences and films at a time, and will have the confidence to flag conflicting demands, or find workable solutions.
Our teams grow and contract depending on the scale and number of ongoing projects, should we bring in additional graphic designers then the Lead Motion Graphic Designer would run the team, allocating tasks, scheduling work and offering support, while continuing with some hands-on responsibilities.
