Lead Filmmaker at Wander Films

The Lead Filmmaker will undertake a critical role in heading up the Production team to ensure the successful delivery of multiple, high-quality client projects, in line with agreed schedules and budgets.

The role will require planning and filming client projects, maintaining clear communication with our team and other business stakeholders. It will continue to build on existing strong client relationships.

Department/Section: Pre-production / production / post production

Location: Boho Five, Bridge Street East, Middlesbrough TS2 1NY

Hours of Work: 37.5

Position reports to: Directors

Position is responsible for: Creating high impact engaging videos

Type of contract: Permanent

Salary: £20,000 - £26,000 (based on experience).

MAIN DUTIES

· Work closely with the Directors, Project Manager and autonomously to lead the production process and resource requirements.

· Taking lead on client and in-house shoots, using camera, lighting and audio equipment to produce a high standard of work.

· Identify and resolve issues that are preventing progress, escalating and linking with the Directors.

· Manage communication of project progress to the Directors, Project Managers and other key stakeholders to ensure they have an up-to-date and accurate understanding, with early warning of where there are challenges.

· Lead excellent communication, positive working relationships and teamwork across all of the team. Coach and mentor junior members as required.

· High level of creative and technical input to projects at each stage with attention to detail whilst keeping up to date with latest production trends - keeping content current and fresh.

· Work both independently and as a team to pitch ideas, work on pre-production, film & edit.

· Any other appropriate duties that are reasonable. Including working with other departments to ensure the client receives the most from their videos.

· Work with Wander Films camera equipment which is maintained and used according to instructions.

Qualifications

5 GCSEs at grade A - D (or equivalent).
Any other relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential

Relevant experience

· Experience in location and studio filming is essential.
· Significant, relatable creative industry experience in a production role.
· Significant, relatable technical experience in a production role.
· Experience leading a small team is desirable.
· Proven track record of leading teams to successfully deliver high quality client deliverables.
· Evidenced ability to manage multiple complex projects and client requirements successfully.
· Demonstrable strong communication and influencing skills across all levels of the business.
· Ability to communicate and comprehend technical information in both written and oral forms.
· Adept at shooting video, operating lights and audio equipment.
· Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro & the rest of the Adobe Suite is desirable.
· Able to prioritise projects and complete them with efficiency and accuracy.
· Able to learn quickly and adapt to changes in organisational priorities.

· You must be able to demonstrate exemplary work ethic within your team and especially with other Filmmakers. This means demonstrating excellent organisational and communication skills, a passion for working in a fast paced, dynamic environment and a desire to get the job done.

· Working at the cutting edge of new technology you will be expected to grasp changes in technical innovation across multiple platforms and you'll need to keep up to date with emerging industry trends.
