Layout Artist - Series

Role 1 & 2:

Start and End Date: 21st June 2021 - 5th August 2022 (59 weeks)

Hours: Full Time

Salary: Depending on experience

Location: Remote working, but based at Aardman's studio in Bristol when required, abiding to current Covid protocols & procedure (must have eligibility to work in the UK).

We are looking for x4 Layout Artists to become part of Aardman's first fully in-house CG/mixed medium series Lloyd of the Flies. The series will be 52eps x 11mins.

The Layout Artists are responsible for realising the locked Animatic using the 3D assets to tell the story. This will include establishing shot sequences, staging, character placements, camera compositions, and continuity to create a rough 3D pass that can then go forward into Animation and for use by all later departments.

The successful candidates will take a brief from Directors, the CG Supervisor and Production Designer, script and storyboard and will be responsible for upholding and maintaining the creative goals set by the Director and Art Director. You will capably and consistently meet project deadlines and milestones set by project Leads and the Art Director. This will involve interpreting storyboards, animatics, and scripts to create a rough 3D pass utilising the correct 3D and 2D assets for use by the Animation and Lighting and Comp departments.

Lloyd of The Flies is a mix of 3D characters and props and 2D backgrounds and a large part of the role will be establishing what 2D assets will be required. You will work with the Animation team to provide them the best stage possible to execute their chosen shots and trouble shoot any technical problems whilst working with other team members to source solutions.You will

We are looking for someone with a minimum of 3 years professional CG animation experience as Layout Artist preferably on a TV series or long form project.You will have advanced skills with Autodesk Maya and working knowledge of other animation software such as Flash, 3D Max, Photoshop, Shotgun, and Nuke an advantage. Extensive skills in camera animation, staging and set dressing a plus as well as a good eye for continuity.
