The researcher will be tasked with assisting Researchers and Assistant Producers in all aspects of production. They will help produce the news review and brief the audience on topics up for discussion, identifying people who have good stories to tell. They will also help in researching guests and topics, booking additional experts/guests and supporting the programme team in all aspects of the show. The successful candidate will need to be proactive, organised, meticulous and thrive under pressure.ResponsibilitiesHelp Assistant Producers and Researchers make the news review by scanning in headlines, producing graphics which appear on air and briefing packs for the guests and presentersPitch, plan and research discussion topicsResearch and book guests/experts for discussionsMaintain knowledge and understanding of topical issuesBrief the audience on topics and identify people with stories they can tell on airThink clearly and decisively, particularly when faced with unexpected problemsAssist the production team with research on show mornings, often under pressureEnsure stories are accurate and comply with the law and relevant regulationsDeal professionally with members of the public and guestsWork in accordance with ITN guidelines on health and safety.These are the main requirements of the role and is not an exhaustive list of duties.
