A Junior Multi-Skilled Camera Operator / Editor is capable of filming and editing reports on a wide range of news stories and features. A broadcast news professional that has some experience of television news with an ability to shoot high quality pictures.

Responsibilities
Film events, picture sequences and interviews in full liaison with other team members
A highly technical role requiring the ability to shoot and edit to high broadcast standards
Work alongside the 5 News correspondents as needed but on occasion can also work alone to shoot sequences or interviews for TV and digital
Creatively film and construct packages for TV and digital
Understand the 5 News agenda and how the camera role is crucial to delivering stories that connect with our audience
Operate a camera and associated equipment, including sound equipment
Use lighting equipment, reliably and creatively to a high technical standard
Undertake the direction of live outside broadcasts
Maintain equipment to ensure kit stays in correct working order, including the ordering of spare parts
Facilitate the speedy delivery of material for TX using internet, IP and satellite feeds
Responsible for adhering to ITN's health and safety regulations in the field
Liaise with the news desk on deployments and operational requirements
Work under own initiative to capture the best footage
Be prepared to work across the whole of the UK and abroad when required

Qualifications
A flexible approach with the ability to multi-task with good camera skills and competent editing skills
Experience of working in television news
Strong editorial skills and good news judgement are a distinct advantage
Sharp eye for picture in TV newsgathering and imaginative approach to news coverage
A self-motivated member of staff with confidence to operate unsupervised and using his/her own initiative
Experience of working with AVID and an understanding of systems for picture delivery desirable
Effective interpersonal skills, particularly a high level of tact and diplomacy
Good knowledge of Ofcom regulations and the ITN compliance manual
Ability to work and thrive under pressure
Awareness of health and safety responsibilities
An understanding of the importance of good care and regular maintenance of kit
A valid driving licence
Based at our London newsroom
Previous newsroom / media experience would be preferred
