Hire & Technical Manager

The Hire & Technical Manager is responsible for the running of the hire and technical department, its staff and its expansion.
Already a thriving department, you will work with a Lead Camera Technician, a Camera Tech Assist and an Edit Technical Assistant and are responsible for delivering the smooth running of all of the technical elements of the business including the equipment rental, edit assistant stations, edit suites, AV and meeting rooms and general IT.
The Hire & Technical manager will present evidence based opportunities to the Finance board about potential kit in investment cases; changes and improvements to the kit and tech side of the business and ways of maximizing the department's potential.
Reports to: Head of Operations
Line Manages: Lead Cam Tech, Cam Tech Assist, Edit Tech Assistant. Dotted line to IT Administrator
Scope of the role: Based in the Bristol Office and servicing the productions in the Bristol, Cardiff and LA office when periodically in operation.
Description of the role:
· Works closely with Head of Production and Production Management team to schedule technical and camera requirements for the business.
· Works closely with the Finance Director to establish a business plan and budget to deliver a growing Profit Centre to the business.
· Keeps up to date with new technology and identifies potential opportunities in the market place for new equipment which is based on production requirements and fulfills the production pipeline.
· Forges strong relationships with suppliers (especially films@59) and post houses to negotiate and procure the best deals for the business in line with its current and future technical needs.
· Responsible for the asset management of technical equipment, making sure that the Company is using the latest technical equipment and is aware of new and innovative products in the market place. Responsible for ensuring all kit is serviced, compliant for the broadcaster and insurer, maintained and fit for production.
· Responsible for the storage of all the Media Management of Company internal and external drives.
· Responsible for all departmental budget and monetary matters including financial reporting, delivering quotes and invoices.
· Responsible for post-production and for all the scheduling and management of the Plimsoll offline suites which involve liaising with films@59 post production house.
· Line Management responsibilities of the Hire & Technical team, including scheduling and forward planning work load, performance management and the hiring of new staff.
