Head of Production

Our mission is to explore key issues and themes in a wide variety of industry sectors and bring them to life with interesting reports and stories from around the world. The Production team delivers industry-specific news-style programmes for B2B audiences in the UK and Internationally.

The Head of Production will lead the quality and performance of all content produced by Industry News. The role will have overall responsibility for executing and managing output, quality, creativity, innovation, effectiveness and profitability. It will involve managing all aspects of production including team management, client relationships and marketing.
Responsibilities

Leading and driving output in line with business strategy
Budget management
Effectively managing and maximising association client relationships
Driving and executing complex, busy production schedules
Leading, managing, coaching and inspiring the production team (including freelance)
Driving solutions, product development and process improvements
Project Management, trouble shooting, acting as spokesperson
Ensures 'best in class' output - constantly driving quality and creative content
Effectively managing internal cross functional relationships
Senior Producer responsibility for producing programmes

CLIENT MANAGEMENT

Managing association partner and client relationships through all stages of programme production; delivering a smooth, positive and effective client experience
Managing numerous clients at any one time, at different stages of the production process of the programmes
Ensuring programmes meet association and clients' needs and objectives
Leading client briefing meetings; developing and writing treatments
Achieving client approval throughout the production process on: treatment, scripts, films, graphics and programmes
Advocate for association partners and their value to our business

TEAM MANAGEMENT

Mentoring, coaching and empowering the team
Managing direct and indirect reports and freelancers
Managing effective programme allocation and programming schedules
Recruitment and training

PRODUCTION / PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT

Developing and implementing annual production plans to deliver on-time and on-budget
Leading and developing of themes and the editorial of Industry News programmes in conjunction with programme directors and industry-leading organisations
Overall quality control of programming and distribution of all output
Driving creative and innovative programme creation
Structuring and writing the studio links for the programme's presenter
Directing and producing studio recordings
Editorial planning of programme content, including editorial profiles as well as interviews with minsters and industry thought leaders
Scheduling, booking and overseeing editing of clients' news-style films and programmes
Ensuring that all films comply with relevant regulations
Directing camera crews and final programme editing of Industry News programmes on location at corporate conferences
Direct and produce launch events/parties/screenings for the programs to run alongside industry conferences
Managing the budgets for individual films and for whole programmes/corporate productions and ensure that all costs are within budget and achieve set margins

Qualifications

Demonstrates a passion for content production
Sound, senior management experience in a production team within a broadcast news or a corporate production environment
Experience managing budgets and delivering complex projects on budget and to tight deadlines
Highly developed, multiple stakeholder and account management skills
Highly organised with the ability to manage and lead large, complex projects
Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to motive and lead a team, setting an example
Ability to drive performance
Commercial thinker
Ability to think innovatively and constantly challenge, striving for 'best in class' productions
Polished communication, influencing and presentation skills - gravitas
Ability to make and execute tough decisions when necessary
Fair and consistent management approach
Calm under pressure, driving solutions in pressurised, deadline driven contexts
Knowledge and experience of broadcast news and current affairs, and reporting regulations surrounding due impartiality, accuracy and fairness
Strong, demonstrable skills in script and treatment writing
Ability to research, learn and understand industry-specific issues - interest in news and current affairs
Ability to demonstrate our values - Trust, Innovation and Collaboration
Flexibility to travel across the UK for presentations, client meetings and filming, at times outside office hours
