Head of Development (Factual Entertainment & Events)

We are looking for a Head of Development to lead the Factual Entertainment and Events Development Team on a permanent basis, overseeing the development process to create the next generation of fact ent formats.
Role Responsibility
Reporting to the Genre MD and the Creative Director for Development across the division, the selected candidate will be tasked with providing editorial direction, stimulating creativity and ensuring the team are on track to develop the best content ideas in line with the genre strategy. They will be expected to bring; strong commissioner relationships across a variety of platforms including terrestrial and SVOD; be knowledgeable about what these buyers are looking for and able to generate ideas to suit a variety of channels and audience needs.
The ideal candidate will also bring previous experience developing content in the unscripted Factual Entertainment / Popular Factual realm. They will be experienced business winners who have contributed significantly to commissioned formats in the Factual Entertainment genre, ideally across a range of channels and platforms here in the UK. Experience pitching to or winning commissions with global broadcasters is also desirable but not necessary.
Please bear in mind that we will only consider candidates with previous experience at a very senior level in the Development sphere so please do not apply if you do not have this experience. The chosen candidate will have experience in; working cross-departmentally, line managing a team and the administrative tasks associated with a position of this level.

Are you the right candidate?
* Previous experience developing content in the unscripted Factual Entertainment / Popular Factual realm.
* Previous experienced winning business in the Factual Entertainment genre.
* Proven experience of contributing significantly to commissioned formats in the Factual Entertainment genre.
* Extensive experience of leading and inspiring development and production teams in a multi-platform environment and an ability to demonstrate strong managerial skills and positive behaviours.
* Effective planning and organising skills with the ability to concentrate on several areas of work at one time, prioritising, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
* Previous experience at a very senior level in the Development sphere.
