Game Engine Cinematographer (Capture Artist)

Soho - London

Fire Without Smoke are a full service creative agency specialising in video games marketing.

We are looking to bring on some aspiring & talented cinematographers to expand our in-game capture team.

The role primarily involves working in-game to capture exciting, hi-res footage which can be used throughout our clients' marketing trailers on projects from AAA studios to independent developer projects.

You will report to Senior Cinematographers and members of the Creative and Production teams to capture on a range of video game projects.

Game Engine Cinematographer's (also known as Capture Artists) use exclusive marketing and development builds for video games.

These builds are provided with debugging tools and fully featured marketing cameras, which we record and manipulate using our own hardware and software.

The Cinematographer's role is to experiment with the game in order to capture the most exciting footage and features, which are then used in trailers to show our clients and ultimately, the public.

Game Engine Cinematographers require a keen eye for creative cinematography in order to create visually exciting assets. The same rules often apply across the field.

Occasionally, you will be guided by a script written by members of the creative team however there is a lot of freedom to experiment, explore and use your imagination.

You will have control of lighting, staging, location, time of day, as well as a cast of actors, creatures, costume and SFX all in one asset via the game build.

We are looking for talented cinematographers who are able to adapt their skills from the field and focus them within the sphere of video games.

Knowledge of video games may aid this as you will be familiar with various game engines, controls, physics and movement - but is by no means a necessity.

A general knowledge/passion for gaming is a plus however understanding the game builds, camera equipment and development tools is process which takes time and training to learn.

We are looking for people who are self-driven and excited by the idea of creating high quality video content. As you will be working in a team, you should ideally be able to fit into an easy going, friendly office environment.
