Floor Assistants, 3rd Assistant Directors - Emmerdale
Leeds
In order to support our busy Assistant Directors' Department, we regularly offer short-term and long-term freelance contracts to cover the position of Floor Assistant and 3rd Assistant Director.
Our Floor Assistant role is an entry level position which will involve working closely with the cast during the rehearsal and recording of scenes. You will assist with line runs and communicate any requests for dialogue changes to all artists and crew during rehearsals/takes. In addition you will be required to help arrange the positioning of background artistes, prior to recording in some of our larger sets, which will help you develop an understanding of continuity.
Following a successful period of time working in this role you may be offered a further contract to train and work in the capacity of 3rd Assistant Director. Your responsibilities as a 3rd will be to support the 1st AD as they work their way through a demanding production schedule with tight deadlines. You will then have the skills to rotate between these two roles as and when required.
As with either of these roles, at the point when you leave us you should have gained the knowledge and skill-base to confidently work across a variety of dramas in a freelance capacity and retain links within the ITV Talent Pool.
Ideally, you should already have a credit list of working in the capacity of a Runner or other similar role in the TV industry. Excellent communications skills are essential, together with strong organisational and administration skills. You will also be a diplomat - absolute discretion and confidentiality is a requirement of all these roles. You will have the ability to work under pressure, work long and unsociable hours in both a studio and location environment (often during inclement weather conditions) and be prepared to change your working pattern at short notice. Please note that together with the long hours and manual handling element, means both of these roles are physically demanding.
If you have the skills we are looking for together with an understanding of TV processes and an absolute passion to develop a career as a freelance Assistant Director, then apply now!
We continue to work hard to make meaningful changes to make sure ITV continues to welcome diversity, celebrate individuality and support an inclusive working environment.
Successful candidates will be invited to an Assessment Centre on Tuesday 29th January, in Leeds.
Closing date for applications: Friday 18th January 2019
