Executive Producer

BBC Studios Productions Factual division is looking for a brilliant Talent and Celebrity Executive with extensive Factual programme making experience to join our department for an initial 7 month period, with the possibility to extend.

Factual is looking for an onscreen talent & celebrity expert at exec-producer level to develop a slate of high profile and rising-star on screen talent in the US and UK.

The role will involve spotting exciting new talent and growing them into the business as well as building and maintaining relationships with important internationally recognisable names and helping develop and implement Factual's talent strategy.

The Factual department has an extensive track record of working with an array of world-class names including Sir David Attenborough, Louis Theroux, Mary Beard, Chris Packham, Greta Thunberg, Chuck D, Big Narstie and ones-to-watch YouTubers.

This dynamic and multi award winning department is world reknowned for making premium content for global SVODs and UK broadcasters. We have active pipelines and relationships with all of the BBC's flagship channels as well as major global platforms such as Netflix, Discovery, Disney + and Apple TV plus numerous newer, younger skewing platforms including Quibi, Spotify and YouTube - to name a few.

Role Responsibility

The ideal candidate, will be an extremely experienced and tenacious producer and networker with a genuine passion for connecting and forging key long-term relationships with talent of all backgrounds and experience, as well as being a creative with proven production experience on talent-led content.

The role will involve developing a forward-thinking strategy for talent within the department and requires someone who can think laterally and create surprising combinations of talent and subjects across the Factual slates.

You will have your finger on the pulse of the current global commissioning landscape and be good at spotting trends around talent that are emerging - understanding which celebs or artists are becoming relevant and important to audiences and commissioners alike. You will also have an eye for finding fresh emerging modern talent that may still be under the radar and have a proven understanding of talent that speaks to younger more diverse audiences.

We are looking for a candidate that already has an extensive established network and contacts with talent that are relevant for today's market. You would relish representing the Factual department at key events for talent/celebrities and will have the ambition and nouse to spot and grow talent who can help create and make the groundbreaking memorable content of the future and connect with audiences globally.

The brief covers a broad slate - from projects of scale through to new shapes of content - from podcasts to shortform on emerging platforms. You will be a skilled negotiator with a track record of dealing with everyone from major US agents and music managers to YouTube managers and sports agents and be experienced at brokering contracts and favourable deal terms on projects. You will also stay networked with other talent managers within BBC Studios, ensuring there is an aligned talent strategy across the business.

The role will involve working closely with Director of Factual, Tom McDonald, to identify and develop key talent for the department. You will also work closely too with individual heads of Unit and Heads of Development supporting them by securing talent to help them win new business and deliver against their business targets, as well as feeding in creatively to ideas built around Factual's talent slate.

Are you the right candidate?

Proven track record of working with premium celebrities and emerging talent both here and in the US.
Knowledgable of both the UK and US talent market and agents.
A contact book of existing networks and relationships with relevant talent to fit the current market.
Detailed knowledge and experience structuring a range of favourable deal terms for top talent.
An excellent networker and known for being tenacious and skilled with talent of all backgrounds and levels of experience, ideally from A-listers to YouTubers.
Highly personable and a strong team player.
Considerable production experience which a background creating content and an understanding of what is needed from talent on different types of programmes.
Social Media savy with an understanding of how to use social to spot trends and talent.
Able to think creatively and be involved in brainstorms around celebrities and talent.
Knowledge of editorial guidelines and awareness of BBC and statutory policies and regulations relevant to programme making, familiarity with the BBC employment practices and policies such as diversity, equal opportunities, and health and safety guidelines.
