Edit Assistant

General Summary:

Working within the Post Production Services team, this role assists with the day to day running of the in-house Post Production facilities.

This role is also responsible for media management of all edit servers, making sure materials are available for scheduled edits and audio sessions, whilst ensuring that housekeeping is completed to maintain appropriate space on servers.

This role will be responsible for preparing media for Reversioning edits, assisting a senior editor on Special Projects and Customisations and carrying out edit fixes.

This role will be a liaison between the Editors, Programme Operations teams, Media Technology, Media Services and the UK/EMEA Lines of business.

The role requires technical understanding of Avid edit platforms, an understanding of basic editing whilst also having excellent customer service skills to provide a 'first point of call service' for Editors and DNE clients.


Key Responsibilities:
• Media Management of ISIS Edit Servers, After Effects and Pro Tools servers including deletions, reservations, media archiving/project back up and some manual material restores.
• Designing and implementing deletion policies for ISIS users
• Preparing edit and audio content, setting up projects and checking media for Editors in advance of Edits.
• Carrying out edit fixes, some of which might be attended by the client.
• Coordinating QC fixes through Edit.
• Feedback any incorrect QC Fails to Ingest.
• Providing support and preparing material for Reversioning special projects.
• Supporting UKVO workflow.
• Basic machine room/suite training for freelance edit staff.
• Assist in day to day running of the suites operationally and technically.
• Operational support for Avid Interplay to our internal clients.
• Operational/Technical Support for editors across PPS and UK/EMEA On-Air teams.

Requirements:
• Understanding of client requirements within a Post Production environment.
• Understanding of tape and file based working.
• Familiarity with the Avid Non-Linear Editing systems. An understanding of After Effects is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of PAL/NTSC standards, conversions and file formats.
• Proven track record in broadcast operations, preferably in an international environment
• Good IT skills, experience of Mediaflex essential. ScheduALL experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills.
• Attention to detail essential.
• The ability to prioritise in a time pressured environment.
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to different demands.

Metrics:
• Operational and technical support for 25 Edit suites.
• Ensure smooth running of 32,000 edit hours per year.
• Responsible for managing capacity across all workspaces totaling 300-600TB.
• Reporting into Edit Supervisor and working in a team of 25 people.
• Working on programme materials across +100 feeds managed by the Content Operations
