As a Sky Sports director, working in an automated environment, you will have the opportunity to use you previous experience in sports to broadcasting to thrive in a pressurised environment, be at the forefront of a new way of working and show a desire to seek out and work with new technology.Directing- Responsible for enhancing our output using new technology and source selection including camera shots via robotics.- Coordinate and direct production, technical crew, talent and remote sources, count talent out of clips and pulse commercial breaks.Driving automation- Operating Ross Overdrive live on air for transmission of programmes, create and/or amend templates within Overdrive and use Overdrive to increase options for reliably producing complex sequences.- Breaking out of automation when the situation demands and work "on the fly", returning the programme to automation when appropriate.- Controlling graphics, sound, video server playout, in-set elements, lighting levels and remote OB presentation by cue selection.Working as a team / Collaboration- Working with editorial staff to ensure correct coding of all story elements within the NRCS running order and ensure this is reflected in the Ross playout rundown.- Working closely with the Technical Supervisor in the gallery to deliver output through the automated gallery, using a thorough understanding of each other's responsibilities to work as effectively as possible together.- Working alongside the Producer and production teams to ensure the look and feel of programmes maintains the high standards of Sky SportsYou'll have:- Experience directing output - using talkback and IFB to presenters and contributors, following the programme rundown.- Experience within high level Sports production environments.- An ability to problem-solve and create solutions in high pressured broadcast environments.- Demonstrable experience working within a high performing team and experience of giving feedback to others to improve overall results.- Up-to-date knowledge of the latest technological and operational developments.- An ability to use automation technology, and understand how it links to gallery devices, such as the vision and sound mixers, graphics and video play-out and camera robotics.- An understanding of the principles of APC (Automation Production Control) and the principles of automated workflows- Knowledge of OFCOM rules pertaining to broadcast/product placement/undue prominence.
