The News Editor sits on the International Digital team within NBC News and is responsible for editing and reporting on both breaking news and feature stories as well as supporting the wider Digital team on additional tasks such as the Homepage.

Key Responsibilities
• As news editor, help set the editorial agenda by managing overall daily coverage of both breaking news and enterprise reporting.
• As news editor, work with a team of reporters and assign them to the day's top stories and anticipate where these stories are headed next.
• Carry out rigorous edits and find ways of turning raw reporting into compelling digital content
• As a reporter, pitch enterprise story ideas, that resonate with an American audience, to pursue both from London and in the field
• Make full use of the range of NBC News resources, including network newsgathering
• Act as News Editor for the site, generating ideas, commissioning stories and directing a team of reporters
• React instantly and responsibly to breaking news as well as nurture impactful enterprise and feature reporting
• Ad hoc curation of the NBCNews.com homepage and filling in on the Daily Rundown newsletter

Skills and Experience
• Experience working in a newsroom environment, including experience with breaking news
• Experience working in a strictly digital shop
• Desire to undertake both editing and reporting duties
• Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment
• Highly skilled editor with outstanding communication skills
• Strong ability to write news and feature stories for a digital platform
• Desire to work in a creative, demanding, competitive environment
• Strong attention to detail and sound editorial judgment under pressure
• Must be able to work weekends
• Full English language capabilities
• Deep knowledge of U.S. affairs and stories that resonate with an American audience
• Experience working within a U.S. news outlet and writing for U.S. audiences
• Experience reporting in the field
