Your role will be to develop BBC News's digital services across all platforms in order to meet audience and financial targets and maximise the value of our journalism to audiences. You will further the BBC's online vision acting as the main point of contact within News for the Design & Engineering and Marketing & Audiences Divisions. Working with editorial teams across News and the BBC, including the BBC News Editorial Director, you will develop a strategy for BBC News in the digital space and drive a data-driven approach to audience engagement, managing the Digital Development, Online Audience Engagement and NewsLabs teams. You will be supporting the digital transformation of BBC News, working closely with the Chief Finance and Operating Officer, by championing news ways of working as well as managing the Digital Pilots teams to encourage innovation and invention in the newsroom

Are you the right candidate?
As the successful candidate, you will be a senior leader in a digital role preferably with board level experience in a journalistic environment with a strong understanding of digital tools and techniques (e.g. audience engagement and website optimisation). A deep understanding of the editorial needs of different audiences in a digital environment and evidence of having used digital tools and data to bring about transformational change, innovation and new ways of working will be essential. You will be able to demonstrate exceptional knowledge about the market and opportunities for digital journalism including external competition, the editorial marketplace and audience trends. Evidence of managing large teams and sizeable budgets effectively is key as well as championing diversity and inclusion.
