Development Script Editor

London

Context: Pulse Films is an award-winning, independent, modern-day studio encompassing the development, production, financing and distribution of cross-platform content for audiences worldwide. Our scripted team excels in producing fiction films and television drama that is provocative and redefining in approach. We work with the world's leading talent and collaborate with some of the most influential figures in film and television to create event driven, genre-defying theatrical releases, TV single dramas & drama series.

Role: The Development Script Editor will be one of two working closely with the Executive Producers and Producers across a bespoke high quality slate for the domestic channels, global streamers, and the European market. This role will be pivotal in supporting the crafting of new IP to be developed by Pulse Films, whilst cultivating and converting existing projects into production.

Key Responsibilities
To proactively identify and develop new material with Execs / Producers and generate a pipeline of strong original ideas and distinctive IP for the Pulse slate.
To source and research material in order to develop high quality programme specifications, pitch materials and treatments, both alone and in conjunction with the Execs / Producers.
To produce and deliver key editorial script notes on point projects.
To ensure that scripts and accompanying materials are prepared in the appropriate format and conform to the editorial brief.
To contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the department; assessing priorities, taking appropriate action.
To preserve and support the quality of the working relationship between the Execs / Producers and the Writer.
To stay abreast of UK Broadcaster needs, guidelines and an awareness of OFCOM editorial guidelines.
To seek out and cultivate relationships with freelancers.
To foster connections with literary agents and publishers.
To embrace a collegiate structure, work collaboratively and be champion of inclusive culture.


Key Skills And Experience
A minimum of 3 years of script editing experience on premium series / 3 script editor credits on produced show.
An exceptional eye for editorial detail.
Excellent time management, multi-tasking skills and the resilience to deal with conflicting deadlines and priorities.
Proven experience working with both break-through writers and showrunners/lead writers.
A keen awareness of the television market in the UK.
Ability to manage talent lists and databases, keeping the team up-to date with industry news.
Excellent communication skills to develop strong working relationships, both internally and externally.
Experience co-ordinating materials and research for writers' rooms; creating loglines, story synopses and contributing to originating copy for pitch documents.
Ability to set up remote meetings and take notes as necessary/contribute to the development of ideas.
Experience identifying the commercial and artistic merits of scripts and pitches, and other IP such as books or podcasts for adaptation.
Passion for popular entertainment.
Proficient in script programmes including Final Draft and Movie Magic Screenwriter, as well as office and information technology including effective database management and presentations.

The salary will be flexible based on experience and we'd like a quick start if possible.

Location and working during Covid - Our offices are brand new and are in Shoreditch. We are currently working from home due to the pandemic. We are planning on a phased return to office working but we do not have any dates set yet.
