This role is for a TV Development Producer, Senior Producer, Head of Development or Exec for a potentially long-term role with a probationary period.
You will be responsible for leading the development and sales of specialist factual formats and documentaries for a well-established content production company who are expanding their business into factual TV development in the UK and the U.S.

We are looking for someone to make the role their own. This could be a flexible part-time role initially with potential to become long term and full-time.
The team have been working with an outsourced development agency, so development is already underway and the team have a commission. Your job is to take the work already begun in this area to create a fully-fledged TV production arm of the company.

This role requires senior TV development and production experience, including pitching and successfully selling directly to commissioners in the UK and the U.S. The role will have a high degree of autonomy, with the possibility to expand and to build your own team, working with the support of an experienced Production Manager. There is the potential for the right candidate to become part of the senior management structure, with the opportunity to realise a share of the commercial success of new business.

The role will be based out of London where you can choose whether to work in our clients' offices in Southwark, at creative co-working spaces that we use in Hammersmith, Clerkenwell and London Fields, to set up a new working space for your team, or a combination of all of the above.

This role will include pitch trips to the U.S., therefore eligibility to enter the U.S. is a requirement.

Day-rate dependent on experience; paid monthly.

ABOUT THE APPLICANT

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & INTERESTS
• Expert in specialist factual TV development, with proven success in developing and selling specialist factual formats and documentary series
• Proven development success and recent commissions for broadcasters/networks including Discovery, BBC, Smithsonian Channel, National Geographic, Curiosity Stream
• Strong, established relationships with commissioners from at least one of Discovery, BBC, Smithsonian Channel, National Geographic
• Experience and knowledge of US factual commissioning and sales
• Relevant and recent production experience whether as Producer, Director or Exec for production for at least one of Discovery, BBC, Smithsonian Channel, National Geographic, Curiosity Stream
• Personal interest and TV development experience in fields/topics including innovation; medicine & health; government; science & technology; emotion-led human interest stories; social issues such as drugs, crime; law enforcement; air & space; cars & vehicle technology
• Curiosity-driven general knowledge of all aspects of contemporary culture; ahead of the curve on media, technology, social trends and current affairs

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
• Facilitating idea generation sessions
• Managing and mentoring a Development team
• Ability to work in the USA
• Great contacts book. Relationships with US agents and talent a bonus
