Development Producer

Manchester

As Animation Development Producer for BBC Children's in Animation and Puppetry team, you will seek out and develop new animation and puppetry content for BBC Children's In-House slate.

You'll respond quickly and creatively to commissioning briefs and other opportunities to develop projects for TV and other platforms to the highest standards, playing an important role in securing new commissions for the In-House Animation and Puppetry Team.

You'll provide editorial input to the team in areas including responding to the submission of story ideas, scripts and books. Working with the other Animation and Puppetry Development Producers and the Genre Lead, you'll also contribute to the ongoing development strategy of the team.

Are you the right candidate?
The ideal candidate will have a passion for children's animation and ideally puppetry as well as a good knowledge of the audience, and the wider children's scripted content industry in the UK and internationally.

You'll have a strong creative track record and experience of developing television ideas to commission. You'll have a good knowledge of both experienced and emerging writers, as well as strong existing relationships with a wide range of writers and animation companies.

You'll also have substantial script editing experience, and a fluent writing style (for script notes, sales materials etc). Experience of working in scripted animation development is desirable, as well as a strong knowledge of puppetry. Knowledge and experience of multi-platform development is important and experience of working with international co-production partners would be an asset.

You'll have plenty of initiative, be able to adapt quickly to new challenges and enjoy working within a small, busy team.
