We are seeking a Development Coordinator who will provide both administrative and editorial support to the senior staff in the company. The ideal candidate will take ownership of projects on a busy slate, whilst seeking new ideas for adaptation, and continually building relationships across the industry, with a focus on diverse voices.As no day is ever the same in the (virtual) office, we are seeking someone who will manage multiple complex tasks at once and simultaneously work autonomously. Prospective candidates should have an entrepreneurial attitude towards their work and will be a self-starter. We are looking for someone who is organised, intuitive and has a real love for writers and storytelling.Job Title: Development Co-ordinatorContract: Full time from January 2021, Three Month Probationary PeriodPackage: Commensurate to role and candidateLocation: Remote, but with a view to Central London location in due courseMain Duties and Responsibilities• Being the first point of contact within the company• Writing insightful reports on scripts, books, outlines, treatments and pitch documentssubmitted to the company. Logging each submission and ensuring feedback is returned in a timely manner• Maintaining a system for tracking all correspondence the partners establish externally• Taking minutes for meetings and disseminating them in a clear way• Reading drafts for projects in development and providing clear, concise notes to be readwithin the company as well as by agents and writers alike• Attending writer / script meetings and providing editorial support including: character arcs / breakdowns, supplementary notes, formatting in final draft• Creating pitch documents for company projects in line with the house style• Providing detailed and focussed research for drama projects in development when required• Updating company slate documents for both internal and external use• Helping to create new projects, both through finding existing IP or generating new ideas• Proactively sourcing new IP by regularly attending the theatre (when possible), listening topodcasts, and tracking the book market• Following UK and US television/film and industry news• Overseeing diary management for the partners, setting creative appointments, making traveland accommodation arrangements, room booking and hospitality, creating itineraries,confirming guests - liaising with the Partners as neededThe Candidate• Minimum of 12 months television experience required in scripted or directly related field(eg. Literary agency with TV), ideally at a level commensurate or close to Co-ordinator.• A highly organised individual who will be able to run numerous systems for logging scripts,books, and projects• Confident telephone manner, and will liaise with members of the industry (agents, writers, broadcasters) with strong interpersonal skills• Will have discretion and will be able to maintain confidentiality protocols• An understanding of scripted drama, comedy, channel commissioners, agents, publishers, SVODs and distributors• Knowledge of new talent within the industry• Experience of reading and reporting on drama scripts for television, radio, film or theatre at a professional level• Up to date knowledge of commissioning needs, as well as knowledge on scripted television and its audiences• Experience of prioritising, planning & organising activities• A team player• Can work to tight deadlines and quick turnarounds• Can proactively anticipate the changing needs that may arise on a daily basis• Will thrive in a bustling environment, and will have the ability to multitask, as well as work alone for long periods of time• Will have strong problem-solving capabilities• A keen eye for detail• An interest in podcasts, theatre and literature• Will learn the tastes within the company but will not be afraid to bring their own palate to the tableOther Skills & Requirements• Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Keynote, Google Drive, Final Draft• Design and photo editing experience is beneficial but not necessary• Access to quiet and suitable environment for safe remote workingThe CompanyWe are an ambitious independent production company making scripted television.
