Creative Director/Senior Development

Academy-Award winning production company Grain Media is hiring a pivotal Development role (part time initially) for a new department.

Grain is over 12 years old and has won over 100 international film and advertising awards. Recent credits include Netflix's Academy-Award winning THE WHITE HELMETS, EMMY winning, and Academy-Award nominated VIRUNGA - exec produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, factual series MOON SHOT with producer J.J. Abrams, and the BIFA winning feature-documentary EVELYN.

About the Role
This Development role has been identified as a business critical position, and will play a significant role across unscripted and scripted programming as well as an overall creative direction.

They will be tasked with owning a specific development slate and manage the allocation of development funding to in-house teams, supporting our specialisms and encouraging collaboration throughout the rest of the company. Creativity and competitiveness in television production is key, and you will use your understanding of the UK, US and international audience bases to ensure the slate is reaching the biggest possible audience, providing both editorial strength and commercially viable programming.

Role Responsibility
·Ownership and oversight of a specialised TV and Film in-house production slate, originating new proposals and initiating new relationships.
· Ownership and management of cross-genre development pipeline from inception of ideas through to completion of production
· Writing and pitching proposals
· Creating and Producing Taster Tapes/Sizzle Reels/Pilots
· Working with various internal roles including Grain's CEO, Head of Development,
Head of Production and various in-house Execs to identify new opportunities, and secure commissions against targets in a sustainable, responsible way.
· Building and maintaining trusted relationships with relevant clients and experts to ensure originated projects are built on strong, stable, factually accurate bases.
· Building strong relationships with commissioners across UK, US and International territories.
· Management and allocation of development funding (initial funding, secondary and additional discretionary)
· An overall focus on creating, securing finance and producing work across TV and Film win both scripted or unscripted that has the power to create positive change in the world.

Are you the right candidate?

· Excellent communication skills, which will enable you to form trusting and productive relationships with a wide range of colleagues and clients
· Influencing skills to work effectively with peers and senior roles.
· Assured negotiator able to think positively and resourcefully when dealing with obstacles, and to adapt to changing circumstances.
· Crucially you will have considerable experience creating and/or delivering factual programming to UK and US audiences including Feature-Docs, standalones and
series.
· Ideally you will also have experience developing and/or delivering scripted programming in addition.
· You're an exceptional writer and presenter.
· You're commercially savy with a practical understanding of what it takes to turnan idea into a commission across the UK and US.

As a member of the senior team within Grain you will build and nurture close working relationships with Commissioners, Experts and third-party creatives to maximise the division's potential success, as well as building strong internal relationships with various teams.
