Building on the relationship we have with this audience through BBC Bitesize, Bitesize Plus offers a growing range content that supports the audience beyond their academic studies, helping them navigate through the other challenges they will face throughout their school lives and as they transition into adulthood.

BBC Learning exists to transform lives through education. That clear vision drives everything we do as we lead the overall education strategy for the BBC.

Our aims are to:
•provide every child in the UK with a personalised learning experience through BBC Bitesize - which reaches 82% of secondary students and 56% of primary students each term;
•support & inspire classroom learning with world-class, curriculum linked programming through BBC Teach - which is redefining schools television for the digital age;
•address societal and educational deficits within the UK through campaigns such as BBC micro:bit and BBC Terrific Scientific

Main Responsibilities

The Bitesize Plus Content Editor will:
•Build content throughout the project, ensuring this content works seamlessly alongside the academic support given by the current Bitesize offer
•Support the Executive Producer in driving and delivering the second year of Bitesize Plus, continuing to extend the Bitesize content offer beyond the curriculum
•Lead on the production and commissioning of content for the product as well as building internal and external partnerships to enhance the Bitesize offer
•Provide inspirational leadership and editorial oversight for all aspects of content production and development
•Ensure the team vision is communicated and understood, providing a supportive and motivational environment
•Maintain a focus on audience data, analysing the performance of content, communicating trends and themes.
•Work closely with experts, young people and with colleagues to ensure audience insight is built into all commissioning decisions
•Ensure Bitesize Plus content reflects our diverse audiences

Are you the right candidate?

Bitesize Plus will offer support and advice for young audiences aged between 5 and 30. Our focus this year will be the 16-24 age group. We are looking for an innovative leader with experience of making compelling content, ideally for audiences within this demographic.

We would like you to bring to the BBC your proven ability to develop innovative output, and to motivate colleagues to be at their most creative.

Like us, you should be passionate about developing content that reflects are diverse audiences.

You should have the desire to build strong relationships with teams within BBC Learning and across the BBC, creating opportunities to co-produce or co-commission content for Bitesize.

It would also be fantastic if you have experience in shooting and editing content for young audiences, ideally in a quick-turnaround environment.
