Content Editor

Reports to: Senior Operations Manager
Contract Type: 12 month

The role of the Content Editor requires being able to edit video, create relevant and effective metadata and be able to produce quality thumbnails in Photoshop. It also requires the upload of the video to the relevant social media platforms & application of the created metadata & thumbnails, as well as contributing to the overall strategy and data analysis of the channels. Content Editors report into the Senior Operations Manager.

The Owned Channels Team are responsible for Little Dot Studios' Owned and Operated brand channels such as Real Stories, Only Human, Wonder, Real Families and many more. They are built upon Broadcast-quality, long-form Documentary content licensed from a wide range of global content partners, as well as some focussed original content.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
* Understanding of, and input into, YouTube channel strategies
* Creating video edits for social media platforms
* Thumbnail creation and filling in of metadata on all uploads
* Uploading videos to a schedule as set out by the Content Editor along with the Channel Manager
* Understanding of all appropriate platform metadata & channel/page tools (endscreens, cards, etc.)
* Applying any necessary Usage Policy or Custom ID to all uploads
* Responsible for upkeep of channel/page layout - playlists, trailers etc
* Defining and creating original social assets for our social platforms
* Contributing to digital content strategy

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE
* Qualifications, skills and experience requirements to do the job. Criteria required to get to work at this level.
* Excellent knowledge of social media platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & Snapchat) and an interest in the differences between them
* Proven experience in graphic design and/or video editing
* Peerless attention to detail
* A data-driven mindset
* Strong email etiquette
* Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop)
* Excellent knowledge of different video formats, video compression, sound/video synchronisation
* Community Management experience (desired, but not essential)
* Media management experience (desired, but not essential)
* Experience editing vertical video for social platforms (desired, but not essential)
* Demonstrable interest in and passion for History (desired, but not essential)
* Strong research skills and critical faculties (desired, but not essential)
* Experience using YouTube and Facebook content management systems and other video platforms
* Knowledge of YouTube analytics in order to relay performance when prompted
* Team player with a hard-working flexible attitude and interest in working in a dynamic start-up environment.
