Careers Digital Assistant

About us:
In the last two years, new leadership at ScreenSkills has reshaped the organisation and refocused our strategy on the screen industries, clarifying our purpose and value. Our mission is to lead on building skills and talent, creating a properly inclusive workforce to power sustainable growth for the UK's screen industries.

Our Board and Advisory Councils comprise committed senior industry leaders from across the screen sector - film, television, visual effects, animation and games - representing large and small organisations across the UK.

Role purpose:
As part of the ongoing business, the careers team and the ScreenSkills digital team will be further developing the careers section of the ScreenSkills site over the next year. The site will contain enhanced career information about the screen industries, detailed job profiles and information about routes into the industry for school age children, students, parents, careers advisors and teachers.

The web content is closely related to printed resources (careers maps, information sheets and other hand-outs) which the careers team use at the events they attend and host throughout the year.

We are looking for a vibrant new team member to join the team, to support the Careers Digital Producer and the wider careers team. The role will be part of the careers team reporting to the Head of Careers but working day to day with the Careers Digital Producer and the digital team.

The team is also developing a digital tool for the Creative Careers Programme which is a partnership of organisations from across the Creative Industries. The post holder will assist in this work.

Key responsibilities:
• Assisting in the research of job profiles and other content for the ScreenSkills website
• Assisting in writing job profiles and other content for the ScreenSkills website
• Uploading of videos to YouTube and assisting with other social media channels
• Assisting in writing the careers newsletter and maintaining the database
• Sourcing of images and re-sizing them for the ScreenSkills website and social media
• Providing admin support for the careers team working with the Careers Coordinator
• Supporting in the writing and design of printed publicity materials to match the web content
• Supporting in delivering careers events and presentations
• Communicating effectively with partner organisations

Essential skills and experience and/or qualifications:
Educational experience:
• GCSE (grades 4-0 or grades A*-C), Level 2 Diploma, Level 2 NVQ)

Work related experience:
• 1 - 2 Years - Entry Level

Essential:
• Understanding of the importance of writing in an organisation's style
• Understanding of the basic principles of SEO
• Knowledge of the basic principles of writing for the web
• Experience of writing for print and digital media
• Some knowledge of design for print and digital media would be an advantage
• Some knowledge of the film, TV, games, animation or VFX industries would be an advantage
• Some journalism knowledge or qualifications would be an advantage
• Some knowledge of the education or careers sector would be an advantage

Other skills and attributes:
• Excellent writing skills
• Excellent organisation and administration skills
• Ability to edit images in Adobe Photoshop or other editing software
• Good research skills
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Occasional travel and overnights may be involved
