Your key responsibilities:
Sky News is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and engaged ENG Camera Technology Assistant to be based in London, whose main responsibility will be to assist and support all of the technical and administrative aspects of the Sky News ENG Camera department.

- Work closely alongside both the Camera Technology Co-ordinator & Manager of Cameras to maximise our ability to deliver strong and engaging visual news content, including LIVE news events on both the news channel and other platforms.
- Work to further develop and support our camera operators in the acquisition of raw video news content alongside the delivery of LIVE broadcasts
- Liaise with both our Technical Logistics Co-ordination team and our broad team of camera operators with regards to kit preparation, support and ongoing repairs in order to maintain a high degree of readiness to respond to a wide variety of news stories, including "breaking news".
- Awareness of current news events and an enthusiasm to work closely with camera operators, correspondents, producers to improve all aspects of our visual journalism.
- Help maintain our important relationships with manufacturers and suppliers in order to keep Sky News up to date with any significant and relevant industry developments.
- Assist with the administration of budgets, purchasing, roll-out, development and technical support.
- Ongoing "Research & Development" projects regarding innovative and relevant new products and features that could provide more opportunities for Sky News to maintain its strong position in the 24-hour newsgathering industry.
- Overseeing and reconciliation of corporate production expenses and management of AMEX cards.

Your skills:
- A strong interest in camera and IP technology and how best it can help to push the boundaries of our visual storytelling.
- A basic understanding of cameras, codecs, audio and non-linear editing as well as have a basic understanding of Microsoft Excel.
- A keen sense of what makes high quality visual journalism and an enthusiasm for new and exciting ways to tell stories on all news platforms.
- Strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills as well as the ability to positively interact with a variety of people and situations.
- A consistent commitment and desire to work in the "breaking news" industry.
- A willingness to support Camera Crews both at base as well as in the field
- To take responsibility for ENG Camera, Sound and personal broadcast equipment including the use of company pool vehicles when required
- A keen interest and desire to travel, at times with limited or no notice, to anywhere in the UK and the world.

The role will entail a 45-hour week comprising of 11 hour shifts. A fixed rota with a degree of flexibility required in accordance with the news agenda. Start times will vary. Additional time worked will be repaid with days off in lieu unless overtime is approved. Although Osterley based, you should also be keen and flexible to travel throughout the UK and abroad, and as part of teams of fellow journalists if required. So a full driver's licence and valid passport will be required.
