What the job entails...
We are recruiting both a Camera Assistant and a Sound Assistant (from entry level) to help contribute towards the smooth running of our operations. As an Assistant, you will be assigned to prepare equipment and deliver it to location. Once you are familiar with our recording systems and technology you will be given the opportunity to assist the production team. Over time this will allow you to develop a good understanding of recording technique both on location and in a studio environment.
Key Responsibilities include...
You will learn how to rig/derig specialised equipment, to deadlines and in a professional manner.
You will learn the responsibilities associated with the care, set-up and use of equipment.
You will learn how to rig and derig cameras and sound systems and after a while develop the effective skills required to assist the team in a more operational and technical role both on location and in a studio environment
Over time you will also learn how to fault find and (first line) maintain systems equipment.
On location ..
You will be responsible for the care of all equipment media, including collection and return to base, cleaning, storing and preparing it for the next shoot day,
You will also be responsible for charging batteries and replacing them, reporting any faulty; items. Your responsibilities will also include the production vehicle assigned to you so a current driving licence is essential.
You will experience drama recording techniques both technically and creatively, working closely with a wide range of production staff including DoP's, Camera Ops, Sound Engineers and Boom Operators.
To be considered for this opportunity you will need to demonstrate abilities in a number of areas:
Minimum role requirements:
Heavy lifting will be required to load/unload the production vehicle
A driving licence is essential as you will have to drive vans and deliver kit.
Have an interest in technical areas including camera and/or sound production
Have an adaptable and helpful approach whilst working with different production teams and clients.
Be able to think in advance, work without supervision and plan ahead with an eye for detail.
Be prepared to work flexibly with sometimes long and unsociable hours.
Discretion and confidentiality is essential.
Understanding the importance of health & safety and security
