Broadcast Journalist x 4

Broadcasting from its headquarters in London, Alaraby Television Network has a broad range of programme content, varying from news to entertainment. Although broadcasting from London; we have bureaus in the Middle east and worldwide.

Primary Tasks:
Produce and support creative and engaging news and programs material to an exceptionally high standard and assist in planning next day or longer-term coverage news programs. To work on the assignment desk, plan daily news coverage, commissioning TV and digital content from correspondents in the field.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Write, translate and adapt items, news stories or programme material and to edit packages at the desktop
• To keep up to date with main news stories and undertake background research and checking on factual information
• Liaise with correspondents and producers, gathering information and advice on stories and coverage
• Manage and undertake pre and post production and studio work, both live and pre-recorded.
• To work with technical systems and manage a range of video, audio and digital equipment and other technology to research, write, assemble, edit and deliver programmes to an exceptional high standard whilst in the appropriate medium
• Present live or recorded TV slots and segments as required
• Communicate and Co-ordinate to ensure reporters and production staff are fully briefed on programme material
• To find contributors and interviewees when required, as well as other sources of material and/or actuality, as appropriate and to the required specification.
• Occasional deployment in the field for the right person with the appropriate technical expertise and editorial judgement.
Essential Skills/ Personal Attributes and Knowledge:
• Ability to work with minimum supervision within a fast paced environment and achieve objectives.
• Proven track record of delivering what is required within tight deadlines and to an exceptionally good standard.
• Excellent skills in using MS Word, Excel etc.
• Ability to translate text material on occasion as required, including online scripts, programme transcripts and press releases around special seasons or events.
• Proven Analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
• Able to travel internationally when required.
Requirements:
• Fluent in Arabic (Spoken and Written).
• Previous experience in a multilingual, Arabic and English environment.
• Minimum 2 years' journalism experience.
• A degree in a relevant field is desired.
