Purpose:

The main responsibility of the role is to provide critical 24/7 IT and Broadcast Support as a member of the Broadcast Support Engineering unit. You will be involved in the end-to-end business support for a range of systems and applications of the entire IT and broadcast infrastructure including television studios, post production suites, playout, MCR operations and Newsroom Systems. Our Broadcast Support Engineers are on the frontline and are responsible for delivering high quality, rapid support to ensure that equipment and systems used to create, capture, manipulate and distribute Alaraby content, meet targets for availability, performance and safety.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for maintaining, modifying and operating the Cisco based IT Network infrastructure and the IPTV distribution system;
Responsible for maintaining, modifying and operating a wide range of broadcast equipment, including sound, lighting, cameras, vision mixers, Editing Suites, Playout, ENG equipment as well as Newsroom and on-screen graphic;
Responsible for the installation/configuration, operation as well as maintenance of our streaming hardware and software and related network infrastructure;
Follow the development and support of our OTT live streaming, VOD and global IP video distribution as well as of our dynamic website;
Ensuring all faults are resolved quickly and efficiently;
Maintaining specialised equipment for satellite transmissions, video production, broadcast and interactive media;
Carry out regular updates of the associated system;
Installation and testing new facilities and equipment;
Maintaining the systems and workflows documentation library;
Keeping up to date with the industry and changes in technology.

Essential Skills:

Solid understanding of networking technologies and their implementation in a broadcast environment;
Solid understanding of the newsroom systems including Octopus, Telescript Autocue and Vizrt Graphics.
Advance knowledge of the MCR/Playout systems.
Demonstrable relevant technical experience with digital streaming technologies and protocols, HTTP Live Streaming, DASH and Smooth Streaming.
Preferably some Working knowledge on tapeless production, post production workflows and Playout systems (Video servers, Automation System, Non-Linear Editing Systems, MAM, etc.)
A relevant industry qualification or equivalent experience in Cisco technologies e.g. Catalyst Nexus Switches; Microsoft technologies e.g. Active Directory, Group Policy Management, Windows Server 2012 onwards; VMware server virtualization administration.
Experience with Linux based operating systems to be able to perform basic commands, editing scripts.
Knowledge of VoIP and IP Telephony systems.
Must have availability to answer and work on-call as needed, including evenings, overnights and weekends.
Effective communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
Communicating effectively with members of the team and other colleagues.
Awareness of best practice in health and safety for the workplace.
Previous experience working in newsroom gallery in television.
Qualifications & Experience:

Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work Experience.
At least 10 years of experience in television broadcast.
Arabic language knowledge is preferred.
