Role Summary

We are looking for a talented and passionate Compliance Manager to work across multiple platforms. Reporting to the Head of Production, the role of the Compliance Manager is to safeguard that all content within scope is transmission-ready in advance of broadcast or ready for publishing on digital platforms following established protocols. Primarily it involves reviewing programming (in-house and acquired) and all associated trails to ensure they are compliant with the Ofcom Broadcasting Code and in line with Islam Channel's internal Reversioning and Editorial guidelines.

Role responsibilities

Reviewing and advising on the content of programmes and online material and associated material within scope (eg Islam Channel apps, programme information and trails)

Strict application of regulatory knowledge and accurate recording and dissemination of vital information to all relevant areas

Identifying any audio or visual fault that cannot be addressed or corrected through editing

Updating systems and disseminating information as required

Advising and liaising with internal and occasionally external teams on pre and post broadcasting issues and attending meetings

Liaising closely with post- production, producers, and scheduler to plan and undertake quality versioning and compliance reversioning edits of all content within scope scheduled for broadcast/publication in good time

Updating internal systems to a high standard, and liaising with key areas on timeline for delivery, referring up as necessary

Keeping an audit trail of decisions made to enable the Broadcaster to track issues that have been addressed, as and when this information is required

Attending training sessions to keep up to date on regulatory/industry developments.

Contributing to the cohesive development of the team, collaborating, and assisting others with their workload as required

Undertaking research projects and investigations

Relationship Building: Collaborating closely with other teams eg channel management, production, digital, post- production, scheduling and transmission

Complying content to the highest standard and providing clear support and advice to help realise editorial and commercial ambitions whilst also ensuring the content can be defended

Working within Islam Channel's editorial reference up procedures, in addition to seeking guidance from more experienced team members and your line manager

Keeping up to date with key regulatory developments, Ofcom decisions and internal Islam Channel policies and best practice

About you?

Proven compliance experience in a similar role involving reviewing and editing programmes, both remotely and in situ, to ensure they are compliant with established internal protocols and the Ofcom Broadcasting Code

Experience of creating quality Programme Certifications, or equivalent (Desirable)

Good discernment and sound editorial judgement

Ability to apply strict regulatory and best practice knowledge, eg Ofcom Broadcasting Code

Ability to accurately record and disseminate vital information to all relevant areas

A pro-active approach to problem-solving

Collaborative team player who is keen to learn and develop

Great communicator able to build positive relationships internally across Islam Channel and externally

Enjoys playing a strong, supportive role in a team

Confidence in own judgement but also able to be flexible and adaptable

Good drafting skills and excellent attention to detail

Appreciates the importance of referral up and getting second opinions/sense checks where appropriate

A self-starter, able to manage a busy workload without supervision and to manage projects independently working to tight deadlines with competing priorities and pressures and do so in a calm and measured manner

A resilience to challenging content and calm approach.

Location: Ilford, London. The new Elizabeth Line brings some fantastic transport links to Ilford.
