Responsibilities include:

You must have a clear understanding of the show/scenes that are assigned to you by running through the scenes/animatic with your team members. If there are any questions or suggestions these must be relayed to the Supervisor of BGS, the Art Director or Series Director.
You must have excellent drawing skills with a great sense of colour, design, perspective, staging, camera placement and composition.
You will be expected to produce a set output per week as set out in the schedule for any given project assigned to you.
Prior to starting a scene, you must make sure that all necessary materials are present i.e. sketches, Layouts, Keys if available, props, character layout, EFX. Communicate with your team lead and the Production office and Director if materials are not available.
Ensure that each team member have prioritizes their scenes and they have organized their workflow enabling them to meet quotas and deadlines.
All Backgrounds produced must be of a consistently high standard. Before a team member saves a scene into any folder on the server please ask your Team Lead to review and approve - if changes are called please make the changes as quickly as possible.
Create all levels of basic and complex Backgrounds sequences as assigned by the lead Background artist, director and supervisor.
File management - Ensure work files and folders are organized efficiently. Back up your work as often as possible. Preferable if possible at the end of the day and the end of the week.

Ensure that all naming conventions are followed and that all Backgrounds are set up correctly and in line with the established production system and requirements of the After Effects Dept. if in doubt ask.
Ensure that Backgrounds and Layouts saved on server are the latest and only version of that file on the server.
When finished a Background ensure the scene is exported in the correct format and in the correct folder for review and when approved.
When in-house retakes are called please prioritise and complete on the day they are received.
Ensure that all retakes called by clients are followed and completed by the deadline given.
Please ensure you remain current and up-date in Backgrounds techniques and software.
