AV Technician

London

To provide a high level of technical expertise in areas relating to video production, post
production, photography and audio recording equipment, demonstrating clear operational
understanding of video and photographic image-related technologies including digital streaming
and video conferencing.
To carry out duties in relation to the installation, operation, preparation and maintenance of
audio visual equipment across the university's teaching rooms and provide front line technical
support and guidance to the University's staff and students in the use of these systems.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. To maintain and demonstrate up-to-date operational technical knowledge and participate
in the use of photographic and video production equipment, video and audio recording
and post production equipment and digital manipulation.
2. To provide specialist technical support, guidance and demonstration to staff and students
in the areas provided by AV Resources
3. To provide trouble shooting advice and instruction on software and hardware within the
AV Resources areas.
4. To work effectively as part of a team within AV Resources ensuring that equipment and
operational services are maintained and to provide a welcoming, responsive and
professional service to all staff, student and external clients.
5. To undertake with others the gathering of video and photographic material.
6. To maintain up-to-date technical knowledge to enable the installation, maintenance and
support for the latest technologies relating to lecture room audio visual equipment.
7. To advise staff and students on matters relating to the use of audio-visual equipment
including audio, video, photographic, digital streaming and video conferencing
technologies.
8. To ensure that Health and Safety procedures are adhered to at all times, carrying out
appropriate risk assessments in line with university policies.
9. To develop where appropriate, a working knowledge of the wider functions of Audio Visual
Resources for the purpose of ensuring service cover to users.
10. To undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as required on occasion to ensure
that the University's core priority services are maintained at all times as allocated by the
Director.
