Assistant Producer x 4

BBC Children's In House Production is a busy production unit covering a range of genres from drama, comedy, factual, entertainment and pre-school. We develop, produce and deliver award-winning content across several platforms for our youngest preschool audiences through to teens.

Yolanda is back for a second series and will be jam-packed with live music as award-winning musician Yolanda Brown invites musical guests to jam along with her band, to perform crowd-pleasing songs for a noisy audience of children.

Something Special is a highly popular and extremely important brand for BBC Children's. The show's unique inclusivity and sensitive portrayal of children with physical and learning needs make it a landmark series for CBeebies. Starring the extremely well-loved Mr Tumble, the series introduces the very young to comedy, compassion and empathy.

Role Responsibility

Yolanda:

Experience of working with children and directing location-based films.
Responsible for working closely with Health & Safety, insurance and legal teams to ensure that all shoots are safe and legally compliant to BBC standards.
Programme scripting appropriate for our youngest audiences.
Overseeing VT/film edits.
Directing on-screen talent.
Ability to self-shoot is desirable.

Something Special:

Ability to single camera direct.
Ability to write and direct factual films with Justine Fletcher and contributors with special needs.
Studio and location filming.
Working with children with delayed learning and communication difficulties and being the main point of contact for their families, carers and schools.
Working with the Producer to develop ideas and deliver editorially strong treatments and scripts.
Working closely with the editor to deliver material on schedule and with the interactive team to develop and deliver ideas for multiplatform AV.


Are you the right candidate?

Directing Experience - demonstrable experience directing varied Factual/Entertainment content as film items.
Storytelling - a good storyteller with strong script writing skills for the pre-school audience.
Creativity - appetite for visual storytelling and creatively ambitious.
Self-Editing - experience self-editing for sync pulls and first cuts (Desirable).
Multi-tasking - Ability to work on multiple items whilst driving the edit.
Experience working with children or knowledge of the target audience (0 to 6 years).
Experience working in a studio environment/location.
Enthusiasm - for directing, content development, children's content and music.
