Assistant Producer/Researcher

London

The Economist is looking for an experienced Assistant Producer to work across Economist radio - the feature podcasts (Babbage, Money Talks, Editor's picks, The Economist asks) and The Intelligence. This role is suited to someone who is organised, has great interpersonal skills and is keen to develop a career within media production.

How you will contribute:

You will support producers and senior producers on daily and feature podcasts for a global audience
Help produce packages, organizing interviews and booking guests
Research story and guest ideas
Assist producers with briefs and long-term bids
Prepare the studio for recordings, coordinating studio bookings internally
Locate and book external studios
Find stringers and organise mic-holds/tape syncs
Oversee and improving internal administrative systems
Assist Economist journalists with recording equipment, logging equipment
Assist producers with publication on podcast platforms (acast scheduling,
soundcloud logos etc)
Assist with on-air diversity initiatives
Assist with promotional assets for social media

The desirable skills for this role include:

Experience of working in radio/podcasts and with producers
Technical experience in a radio studio and dealing with ISDN lines/recording equipment
Experience of booking studios and guests
Experience of researching news stories and writing interview briefs
Sharp attention to detail
Ability to work diplomatically with a wide variety of people
Evidence of successful collaboration with colleagues
Track record of being enterprising and eager to take initiative
An understanding of The Economist's distinctive style and values
