Assistant Producer
London
You'll have an obsession about LBC, working proactively towards increasing the station's listening hours and reach at all times.
You'll be firm and clear in your communications with presenters and other producers so that the station image is protected, ensuring that all programme content and technical standards are maintained to the highest level.
You'll be able to operate calmly under pressure.
You'll understand that, as a commercial radio station, you will need to operate in a way that benefits both our listeners and our advertisers.
You'll generate new ideas for programme content with confidence and flair.
You'll ensure that you and your presenters are always up to date with OFCOM regulation, case history and media law, intervening as and when you think there may be an issue but also know when to ask for help when you're not sure.
You'll know LBC and you'll know exactly what our target audience likes, their taste in news stories, and their lifestyle choices - and you'll be able to use that knowledge to make great audience-appropriate radio.
What we expect of you
Your primary role is to support the Producer of the programme. They will expect you to be across the news agenda before you arrive.
You will be expected to look after presenters before the programme and contributors during the programme making sure they are fully briefed and their name and titles are correct.
During the programme you will be expected to field the callers through to the on air programme. You must be able to keep an ear on the programme at the same time so you are aware of the direction.
You should have a clear and polite phone manner and understand the necessities of the programme on air and the producer's instruction.
An understanding of social media is key as you will be expected to keep our social platforms up to date during the programme. Grammar and spelling needs to be a top priority as well as an understanding on what engages the listeners.
You will also be responsible for monitoring the texts and tweets received by the programme and assessing which are useful to the debate.
You will have an understanding of our editing software so that you can edit as and when required by the producer.
Being able to work in a team and listen to the producer is an essential attribute. You should be able to remain calm under pressure and be flexible to any last minute programme changes.
A thirst for news and current affairs is an absolute must.
