Assistant Producer

Bristol

Life Of Plants is a BBC One/PBS/BBC Worldwide co-production. 5 x 60'. Delivering in 2021/22. Subject to greenlight we are looking for 1x Assistant Producer to start in March 2018 working to Spring 2021.

Plants live secret, unseen lives - but in their hidden world and on their timescale, they are as aggressive, competitive and dramatic as animals - locked in desperate battles for food, for light, to reproduce and to scatter their young.

Now, using the latest technologies and showcasing over two decades of new discoveries, Life of Plants will reveal this strange and wonderful world like never before.

Through intimate story-telling, plants will be revealed as living, 'feeling' beings each facing their own challenges and often going to extreme, mysterious and sometimes cut-throat ways to achieve them.

Life of Plants will be the first immersive portrayal of an unseen, inter-connected world, full of remarkable new behaviour, emotional stories, and surprising heroes.

Role Responsibility
The Assistant Producer will need excellent storytelling skills; visual flair; an ability to take an innovative and creative approach and a commitment to staying within budget; and also be a very good team player.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate must have:

A demonstrable knowledge and interest in plant biology.
Experience working on visually stunning behaviour-led landmark natural history for a mainstream audience.
Evidence of strong directorial skills and ability to identifying key story lines.
Demonstrates visual flair and a good storytelling technique.
Ability to work well in teams, sharing information and knowledge and working closely researchers in their team.
Experience of working with an editor on sequences.
Proven experience of working within programme budgets.
Proven knowledge and an interest in new camera technologies and techniques, using them to deliver increasingly intimate and dramatic shots.
Able to set up and direct remote shoots being responsible for safety on location.
Understands the duty of care in general with regard to individuals' wellbeing and in particular with regard to Health & Safety issues.
Knowledge of editorial guidelines and awareness of BBC and statutory policies and regulations relevant to programme making, familiarity with the BBC employment practices and policies such as diversity, equal opportunities, and health and safety guidelines.
