TV News is looking for a number of Freelance Assistant News Editors to fulfill a range of editorial and logistical roles for the ITV News Home and Foreign Desks. You'll have the opportunity to work on location and support the Output team as and when required. The role may also involve research, the processing of stills and provision of a high-quality service to international clients.

Responsibilities
To assist News Editors as and when required
To answer newsdesk phones, dealing with callers and prioritising information
Passing on information in a clear and concise manner
Coordinate the assignment of crews
Key liaison point between newsdesk and on-the-road teams
Briefing reporters and crews
Undertaking any planning duties as and when required
Transcribing reporter scripts where not available in running order
Logging picture
Being aware of copyright and access information
Attachment to programme teams for Output Producer experience
Researching, locating and negotiating the acquisition of stills
Fielding queries and facilitating special commissions from external clients
Pursue and liaise with any potential guests or contributors
To work across all areas of the ITV News operation - Home, Foreign, London and the Regions
Understanding the importance of fast, accurate and detailed logging of material and absolute compliance with ITN policy on clip coding

Qualifications
You must possess either the relevant journalism qualification (BJTC, NCTJ or equivalent) or have relevant journalism/newsroom experience
Excellent communicator
Ability to work calmly under pressure
A strong team player
Good organisational skills coupled with the ability to multi-task whilst retaining strong attention to detail
Flexible worker with a positive, proactive approach to problem solving
A genuine interest in, and knowledge of, the ITV News agenda
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with a broad range of people
Good knowledge of Ofcom regulations and the ITN compliance manual
Awareness of Health and Safety requirements
Awareness and understanding of the financial implications of all decision making
Recognition of the importance of cross-company cooperation
