Your role is to support the Newsgathering and Planning Editor across the full range of duties/responsibilities including editorial, managerial and financial. You will supervise, organise and plan wide ranging and special multiplatform coverage, briefing journalists and giving feedback. You will lead on big stories and coordinate and promote Arabic coverage within and outside the BBC Arabic department. You will also originate, consider, advise on and commission creative ideas and stories and supervise reporters and producers in order to deliver the best quality journalism across radio, TV and online.

Are you the right candidate?
The successful candidate will have a demonstrable background in a senior journalistic role, with extensive editorial experience of broadcast news. Fluency in Arabic and English language is key. A proven track record in deploying teams and managing deployed teams in the field especially in hostile environments is essential. You will have the ability to develop and implement new and innovative approaches to programme structure and content. You will have proven editorial judgement and flair, able to make sound decisions quickly with a detailed understanding of the latest techniques and technology for newsgathering and production. You will have recent responsibility in quality control and giving feedback on different broadcast content, for example PKGs (TV, RA, On and Digital), Lives, and IVs.
